Topaz Video AI 4.2.0.0.b - 4.2.0.1.b

4444 is available on macOS, but not Windows because it would be a non-standard 10-bit version of the 4444 codec.

Video AI does not currently support alpha layers on both Windows and macOS.

Thank you for that clarification. DVR works in 32 bits. I will have to take it into account for the future.
Thank you in advance for the future version.

So if I’m in a rec.2020 timeline colorspace does the ofx plugin return it in rec.2020? I only ask because anytime I’ve input rec.2020 into the standalone application it gives me back a rec.709 file.

It seems the preview functionality is fundamentally broken in 4.2.0.1.b - I can’t use the Preview button anymore, either when a preset is selected, nor when it’s not - the AVC1 360p video doesn’t even allow itself to be scrubbed, or at least source video preview is non-existent (that’s probably why I can’t even preview anything anymore). WebM or MKV containers with different codecs also won’t display.

That’s on Windows 10 22H2, with RTX 3090 and latest 551.61 Studio driver.

I had to completely remove this beta, along with the config and data files, and install it again, to be able to use the preview. Interesting, since alpha still works fine.

Davinci Resolve Still Crashes even after the latest update.

So now I have to purchase davinci resolve or does topaz receive money from davinci

Not sure I understand the question? Video AI now includes a DaVinci Resolve plugin at no additional cost, but requires the paid version of Resolve to function.

non-Resolve users will not be impacted by this addition.

So the effort in plugin development is for the happy few and removes development resources from improving AI enhancement development. The good thing is that everyone in this forum is happy but not sure if this is a good strategy for why we bought Topaz AI in the first place.

Entirely separate teams work on the Video AI application, plugins, and models.

The plugin is certainly more stable but still will crash when changing too many parameters. I’m curious as well if it would be possible to add some sort of “processing” icon while changes are happening.

Thanks, Tony!

Good morning,

(try)

I found a way to increase stability with the use of the plugin in DVR Studio:
Open Tveai Standalone, go to the preference panel → Processing = GPU + Reduce the max memory. Here I reduced to ~ 67/70% (you must test according to your available RAM). Each time I save the new setting in Tveai and I leave DVR and Restart DVR + New test.

It seems that the plugin is referred to this setting to work and not only to the GPU use preferences in DVR.

It is not guaranteed but with a 3DLUT node+ a proteus auto enhance node in DVR, I will be able to read at ~ 8FPS on an HD TL. To test.

Win11 Pro
NVIDIA 551.61
GPU RTX4090.

Good luck.

For the moment I stop with DVR because I find that the quality of the result obtained from DVR is degraded with the same settings as in the standalone application. I attribute this to the use in DVR of Proteus V3 and not V4. I hope a new version of the plugin with less crash and better performance.
Thanks in advance.
