Definitely.
And I really hope that they also rectify the severe performance issues with Iris on AppleSilicon (with now processing at only half the speed of what’s possible/earlier versions).

Honestly: Do you think that such a complex and much desired function can be possible with a version 4 of the software? .)
It will have the new preview style from the 4.0 Alpha.
Ai-analyze of resolution? or simple resolution step-down in first step?
I have several times step down VHS 720p capture for ex, to lower before Topaz.
I really hope 4.0 is optimized to take advantage of latest Nvidia RTX Cards.
Rendering with the current version 3.5.4 on my overclocked 13700K with an 3080 RTX and upscaling old Hi8 videos to 4K was taking about 1 hour for each 6 minute clip. I upgraded to one of the fastest 4080 OC RTX and it only reduced my render to by 7 to 8 minutes. This was greatly disappointing. Other apps run twice as fast. Fingers cross V4.0 is better optimized for RTX.
But I do NOT want to lose quality for SPEED! I have 200 hundred hours of personal Hi 8 tapes of Formula One racing from 20 years ago digitized. Converting them to 4K at 1 hour per 6 minutes. You will be on Topaz 8.0 by than…
Cheers Steven
It seems that the CPU is the bottleneck. ![]()
What is your CPU temperature during processing? Does it experience thermal throttling?
Also, would you mind letting us know what your RAM speed is?
Lastly, what video format (encoder) are you exporting to ?
I have super fast ddr5 6800. 32 gig… No over heating.
My output is settings are 4K 60 fps since source is 30 fps interlace. Chronos model,
Iris MQ 2x FPS, H265 main 10, NVidia, , quality high and AC3 448k.
If someone has better quality settings for loud hi 8 race videos with mostly fast motion. Would like to hear…
very curious to see if these results in any benefits to chronos / gaia on my 4090 ![]()
UI: side-by-side, slide-over, and overlay views
although the 4-pane comparison from back in the day was pretty epic.
When to update?
my download page still says 3.5.4 ![]()
4.0 is just not ready yet (judging from the available Betas), so I think it’s a good idea not to rush the release.
4.0 is supposed to release today and judging by the fact that they pumped out 4 betas yesterday it’s definitely gonna be another half baked concoction that people will complain about for months…
No idea why they don’t just focus on fixing the current version. Ever since version 2 they’ve been trying to pump as many little UI features into the thing to try to draw in new buyers but ever since version 2 they’ve been way too slow to fix real issues.
Do the betas show the mentioned speed increase of 50% for RTX cards?
No idea, I use the Linux beta and the last Linux beta release was 3.5.3. I’d take that list with a grain of salt, half of the things on the list were already recent additions to 3.5, they aren’t new to 4.0. The major new thing on 4.0 is the UI. I haven’t seen anyone mention speed increases in the beta threads, I think that’s probably just related to the new Nyx model as Nyx v1 was pretty slow compared to Iris but I don’t think Nyx v2 was included in the beta
??
They had 4 Betas but not all yesterday, there was 4.0.0.0.b on the 11th of Oct., 4.0.0.1.b on the 13th, 4.0.0.2.b on the 15th and then 4.0.0.3.b yesterday.
Nope. At least the latest 4.0 Beta runs at about the same speed as the 3.5.x versions on a i7 13700 / RTX 4600.
Then I hope for the final version, because Topaz has promised: 50% speed gain on TensorRT-compatible GPUs. Topaz Video AI Pre-Order
I guess they are refering to Iris MQ (v2) TensorRT model, which is 50% speed gain over Iris LQ (v1) onnx model on Nvidia GPU. ![]()
Hopefully, they will add TensorRT model for Iris LQ (v1) as well
Will the download be available today as mentioned? I have preordered it and have not seen anything yet.
