Topaz Video 1.4.0

black/white you can’t see this; some footage can look like “dirty” faces, the model does lower denoise than SLM, it does more burn noise in. This isn’t phrased in a technical way, but I hope the intended meaning comes across. Maybe we can find ways to minimize this effect. But yes, the level of detail SLP does is breathtaking :slightly_smiling_face:

Just figured I’d share my results here for Starlight Precise - took about 25 minutes to upscale a 60-second video (was an AI generated video at 16FPS - so not even a full 24 or 30fps). Not great considering Starlight Mini felt much faster.

Was impossible for me to tell what FPS the video was actually processing at during the process since it kept showing crazy numbers like 25.2FPS when it was clearly more like 0.2FPS.

I’m on a fairly high-end build too, 9950X3D + RTX 5090 + 96GB System RAM.

I will say the end result of the quality bump (at least for this video) was very noticeable and looked much cleaner (less blurred) than Starlight Mini, so I am very happy with that.

Thank you for the great development. I have a question regarding when support for Intel graphics cards will be added, as the application does not currently support this type.

I can assure you it is being worked on by the research team to get more of the Starlight models compatible with Mac and AMD GPU systems. They unfortunately, are taking a lot more time than expected.

According to the documentation, the Starlight Precise 2.5 requires a GPU with a CUDA compute capability of at least 8.9. Does this mean that no RTX 30-series cards will work with this model?

Unfortunately, it won’t work.

Hi Tentoes,

Thanks for your long term support. It’s in the release planning. Chase me if you do not find SLP 2.5 for mac by the end of May.

Best,

Is it possible to make at least Starlight Mini available again on AMD GPUs?
It doesn’t work anymore since version 1.3.0.

Thank you

Just some more feedback for the team.
I’ve been running Precise for 1 day, 17 hours with no crash or performance issues with other apps as of this post (Chrome, light Premiere). 540p-960p upscale.
i9-12900k, 96 GB RAM, RTX 5070 Ti.

i have 2 nvidia a4000 and it still doesn’t work none of the sl in this version work error must be a bug

Can you send the logs to the support team for your system from the app that is not working with your AMD card? help@topazlabs.com

Need to have the devs look into that and make sure they can sort that out.

Now that is a statement! Looking eagerly forward to this.

I’m getting mixed results. SLP will render sections of some videos, but others give an error. It seems to work best on MP4s, other formats seem to give it problems.

Anyone else got this email? It doesn’t make sense since I’m on a founders license and I haven’t cancelled anything. I hope they’ve not cancelled the founders licenses.

I’m getting the error for all Starlight models now after updating to 1.4.0. The older version 1.3.1 has no issues. I have a 3090 FE 32GB of ram. It is instant error for anything I throw at it. Is there any fixes for it?

Same issue as well. I cant figure out the problem.

is very frustrated to see Topaz come out something real good but majority of us can’t use and would throw out an error when run. I wonder how they tested it before released, as if no alpha or beta testing before release.

me too. thats sad

2 weeks ago, I was workin improving the image quality at a music video from Nothingface, song Ether (Official Music Video from YouTube at 360p) but the results was not enought for me. I am used Precise yesterday and the results are OUTSTANDING!!! Let me show you my workflow to carry on to 4K

Default quality 640x360p:

First, I used Starlight Mini setting the video at 1280x720p:

Next, Starlight Precise setting the video at 1280x720p (same resolution):

After that, I used Nyx XL setting the video resolution at 1920x1080p:

And finally, I used Starlight Precise setting the video resolution at 2x, from 1080p –> 4K

I am so happy with the final result, I can not believe it :star_struck: :star_struck: :star_struck: :star_struck: !!! 12~13 working hours, if you want to know, this is my specs and if you want to see the full video let me know to upload to Google Drive and share the link here :waving_hand: :
