Thanks!
I have V1 + V7.02 + V7.0.0.4.b installed, works good ![]()
The trick with the CLI is that they removed the documentation they had to help you use it in Topaz Video. In the next beta, theyāre making good on their threat to remove support for it even more. They added a new denoise filter but removed all the functionality to be able to view what command gets generated to run it in the CLI.
Topaz is quickly becoming a case study on how not to run a business.
Or how to pull the rug out from under the people who wanted their product.
The good news is that they are no longer the only option. They might still be the best quality option, that that seems to be fading fast.
On June 13, 2025, Adobe published a research article describing VideoGigaGAN capabilities, but significant quality problems still persist. Unlike Topaz Labs, Adobe will not release software, which isnāt ready for prime time, but when they do, itāll blow the doors off anything available today. On the downside, it will require high-end hardware, but even worse, itāll require a subscription.
- Input color override settings on a clip do not save with a project
- If a project is reopened, Input color override settings applied to an already imported clip do not work. You have to close the clip and re-import it.
I saw that too when I installed the new studio driver. I wanted to try to export with Starlight mini, I saw that too when I installed the new studio driver. I wanted to try to export with Starlight mini, I saw that with the new driver it takes a very long time to export. So when I had the old driver studio last October it was much faster exporting with Starlight mini.
What I donāt understand is that nvidia said Topaz updated something, but Topaz Video 1.0.4 hasnāt been updated in a month, so how would we be able to see a difference if nothing changed? I still have my install and it didnāt ask me to redownload the starlight models.
Topaz Video AI is the Legacy version before the update to Topaz Video.
Good catch. I missed that. Thatās even strangerā¦because that version hasnāt been updated since September. Why would they only update the legacy program with improvements and not the new Topaz Video version? Iām very confused.
I tested the new studio driver for Nvidia with Starlight local rendering. Performance has increased from 0,2fps to 0,4fps with GeForce RTX 3080.
This is topaz video 1.0.4 with starlight local? Did you reinstall the program or redownload any models before testing?
Iām currently using Topaz Video 1.0.0.
It might depend on which version of the model files youāre using. I have the Tensor ones (rt.tz) installed for Video AI but ONNX (ox.tz) for Video (it refuses to download or run anything else). Itāll be interesting to run a test file in both to see if thereās any difference in performance.
Yes, the render test was performed with Topaz Video 1.0.4. with existing models. I made a complete new installation before with Topaz Video 1.0.0 a few weeks ago.
Nothing, really.
At least not for the conventional models besides Starlight.
Benchmark values are nearly exactly the same as with the previous driver.
I didnāt really test Starlight up to now but Iād be more than surprised if there was any not even significant difference.
I tested a 480 clip and upscaled it. I didnāt seem to see any speed difference. Bummer. I want some better performance.
So, looks like we wonāt be getting any substantial updates to any Topaz products until 2026..??
Ah..well it is what it is.
Hopefully we get big updates by early-mid Jan.
