I bought a new computer and installed my Topaz Studio and Topaz Studio 2. I don’t use the v2 because I had everything I needed as an artist in v1. Unfortunately, something about a latest version of Windows 11 Pro is preventing me from installing v1 on the new computer (I had the same OS on my old computer, interestingly enough). Here’s the problem: Topaz Studio 2 “Looks” does not have some of the most important (actually, crucial) texture Looks that were in v1. Is there anywhere I can download the Looks set from v1? As a clarification, these are the looks that make images have the appearance of paintings. As far as I can tell, the native set in v2 is notably smaller than the one in v1. I will be so grateful to anyone who can help me with this literal show-stopping problem.
I have had the same problem moving to Windows 11, and Topaz’s help would not do much except try the normal install routine. They say it is an unsupported legacy product, but v2 works as advertised. The interesting thing is that V1 can be downloaded but when I try to install it the install runs for about 3 to 4 seconds and just quits–no indication of the problem–no error message. After searching the net for information I found someone that suggested replacing a DLL file. I am a photographer not a computer guy so I would need step by step instructions.
Your description of the two programs is spot on. The thing about 1 is that many users have contributed to the the looks. I also would be grateful for help. Craig Shumate
Thank you for the confirmation. The fact that they are effectively and dismissively canceling paid-for licenses is bad business practice and potentially a breach of contract. If you can post the text of the instructions you got about the DLL solution, I would be grateful if you would post it here. I am both a professional artist/photographer and a computer expert from the Ancient Times (1970s onward), so I might be able to turn it into a step-by-step walk-through for you (once I’m sure it works).
As a somewhat humorous sidenote, I troll their constant ads on social media with a straight-forward description of what they pulled on people like us, asking readers if they really want to buy software from a company that has a history of canceling subscriptions when new versions come out. Whoever makes and publishes their ads has never once replied to my comments or even bothered to block me. The Topaz boiz don’t care enough to even monitor their own ads.
