Topaz Sharpen AI 4.1.0 Adding blue hue to black and white images

I’ve just exported a black and white image from lightroom to Topaz Sharpen AI and if I select out of focus very blurry it adds a blue hue to parts of the image, as you can see on the left hand image (edit it doesn’t show very well uploaded on here), it doesn’t do this with other presets such as out of focus normal and too soft etc.

Is this a bug?

Hi.

Simple answer NO

This is because, Sharpen AI’s Machine Learning was never trained with either Black & White or Scanned images only Colour Digital Images

Having said that, I myself and others have had miraculous results using Topaz Sharpen AI on both Scanned and Monochrome images unfortunately as I said before as the application wasn’t trained on these types of pictures then sometimes you will experience a slight hue change which can be easily rectified within Photoshop or any image editor of your choice

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. Is this something that Topaz will be addressing in the future or will it never be trained for B&W?

I’m afraid not

Unfortunately, Topaz Sharpen AI has been discontinued and is no longer being developed

Oh that’s a real shame :frowning:
