Topaz Photo AI v4.0.4

Hello! This patch brings small changes in preparation for our transition to the new applications that will be released soon.Photo AI will continue to receive occasional minor patch updates for compatibility. New AI models and major features will be introduced in the Studio versions of our desktop apps.

As you may have seen in recent emails and discussions, we are launching a new application built from Photo AI and updating the license structure for this new application. These changes are made with the longevity and growth of the company in mind so we can hopefully develop more exciting models and features for all users who we are lucky to be building for.

We understand that many of you have questions and concerns about the transition which we will do our best to answer. Please join the conversation and share your thoughts about the change here. Your feedback helps us build responsibly and thoughtfully, and we’re deeply grateful for your continued support.

You can find the installer links and the full changelog below for this version of Photo AI. For any issues, make sure to send us an email to support@topazlabs.com

Hi Lingyu,

B/c the only Changelog item is Topaz Photo spt could you help me understand this update, please?

Is it a part of our perpetual license?

Or, is it the foundation for the subscription model that Dakota described will be sistered to (my construction term for installed adjacent to) the perpetual license product & that will be released on 9/16?

Thx!

Does this mean that the lifespan of Photo AI is now limited? Will I be stuck with another dead app that I paid for like Gigapixel, Sharpen, Denoise and Adjust?

As far as I know at the moment → in principle yes

All application like PhotoAI, GigaPixelAI and so on will no longer be developed and will no longer receive any new features. Only minor bug fixes are expected.
You can use all these applications that you’ve buyed in the past in the future. These licenses are yours.

@Fotomaker - this patch for Photo AI is small changes in preparation for the transition to Topaz Photo (Studio). There will be additional patches in future for maintenance or OS support for the period of expiry of current users (example, to support the Mac OS 26 that is coming out, etc). Any patches are included in the current perpetual license you have, yes.

Topaz Studio apps will be released on 09-16!

IDK what that is. It doesn’t sound familiar for Win 11. Is it a Mac related element?

Its the new Mac OS - Tahoe 26 that is releasing this week. Wouldn’t apply to Windows users but it’s an example of an upcoming patch!

@cris.halbert - Photo AI, with it’s perpetual license is discontinued yes. You still can use your owned version for as long as you want on a compatible computer and access your Owned version link from your “My Products" page. There will be upcoming maintenance patches and OS compatibility patches as well, but since Photo AI is discotinued, there will not be any further model updates.

We are switching from a one-time license to a subscription model: Topaz Studio. Users who own one product with an active upgrade plan will get the new studio equivalent at the current cost. You can contact support@topazlabs.com and the Accounts team can clarify with you what this means exactly by looking into your current account!

@axel.matthies - that is correct, thanks for posting the link to the Questions thread as well!

Topaz Studio | Transition Questions

I’ll be moving some questions there for Dakota, the Product Manager, to get to!

For anyone with questions can also send us an email to support@topazlabs.com - and the Accounts team can clarify what the Studio transition details based on your specifc account and current products/subcriptions/bundles you already have.

Got it! Thx.

I :window: not :green_apple: (but, I like Magritte!)

In the past patch releases were given to everyone, even if the subscription had ended. Are you saying that now patch releases will end when the subsciption ends for the perpetual apps?

Nothing is chagning for patches, as always, all 4.0.X patches will be included if you own v4.0.0, even if your upgrades are expired when the patch is released.

@Lingyu

What does that mean? This is the perpetual app, not the new and coming Studio app.

Does this 4.0.4 add anything of use to 4.0.3? Are you just adding nag screens, etc. to 4.0.4 to bother us to buy a subscription to Studio?

Please clarify what this 4.0.4 perpetual PAI update provides of use to the users. Thank you.

Once Studio released this v4.0.4 will facilitate the ability to install it. If you do not plan on using Studi you can skip this version and see if a maintenance patch in future resolves something for you, and install it if it does. You can skip this one.
