It would help if you can mention the types of processing you’d like to do in order to get any tips (or, workarounds) from current, long-time Topaz users. Also mention the OS you use if citing your usage needs; because it can make a difference.
If you just want to get oriented to aspects of the interface, you may want to watch ‘how to’ videos by Topaz Affiliates on YouTube. Two who post regularly are Dave Kelly and Anthony Morganti.
Other, non-affiliates, post reviews including usage info on YT too.
Sorry if this one have been up before, but why is it that PAI have to re-render everything every time I return to a previously touched-up photo? Even if I don’t make any changes?
It’s not just a little bit annoying to have to watch PAI do it’s thing over and over again generating the same preview just because I want to move around a bit…
Is that really necessary? I mean - I would understand it if I made any actual changes or applied something new… but if not?
if you move 1 pixel or do any slider changes, then yes the file has to reprocess. The only way around this is to process once in Fit view, then you can move freely in the file, zoom in or out. Then on any changes in any settings done, redo the fit and so on.
I have PAI set to always start with “fit view”. I apply some adjustments, go to the next photo apply adjustments on that and so on… if I then click a previously processed photo (in my filmstrip) it processes all the adjustments once again.
I just tried this one more time (when in the slightest doubt), but clicking back and forth between two previously processed photos - done this two or three times now - I always have to sit and watch the wheels spinning through all the steps - over, and over and over again.
Edit: I’ll try to grab a video later, but I’ll have to feed my monsters first - it’s dinner-time here. And I have to load up a number of photos I can actually share (the test photos perhaps).
Ah when switching images, I thought once on the same image. The reprocess is because temporary memory needs to be cleared when moving from one photo to another. It would take up too much information to keep that temp memory for all files that are looked into, but feel free to add a feature request for this in Ideas, for the development team to look at the popular ones. Also - No need for a video, I misunderstood! It would be a feature request to add to the Ideas forum!
When can one expect some optimizations for the AMD RX 9070 XT/non XT?
Just got one delivered today, plugged it in and fired up PAI, loaded 78 photos (32MP) and just exported with recommended autopilot settings.
First impression - a lot faster than the RX 6700 I replaced it with. When I previously needed a bit over an hour for this kind of export the new GPU looks like it will be done in just under 20 minutes.
BUT - keeping an eye on GPU utilization it almost never goes above 20% and stays around 4GB of dedicated GPU memory (6GB in total) which kind of makes me think there’s a lot of room for squeezing more out of the RX9070 XT
Edit: Tried Superfocus V2 on a random 32MP photo. It took an awful lot of time (like a couple of minutes) with the bar on zero and a text saying “processing”, but once it actually kicked in the GPU rendering was fast, and with a lot higher utilization than the autopiloted export I just finished.
With 4.0.1, I have “allow cloud processing” checked as no in preferences, but still get the “you’ll need more credits to cloud render this image” popup the first time I go to super focus. Once I acknowledge the popup, it doesn’t recur, but part of why I like the initial toggle is to get rid of popups that don’t apply to my use case.
Hello @david.horita yes, it was flagged on this release thread by the very first poster this remaining trace of cloud when the Preferences is toggled off will be fixed and removed in next version! I added your contact info on the ticket and we can tag you once next version released!
Il supporto linguistico è stato implementato per la prima volta in Gigapixel nella sua versione recente. Stiamo esaminando le correzioni da apportare a queste versioni per poi implementarle in Photo AI in futuro.
@Lingyu@Ange.topazlabs
Congrats on a solid update, I downloaded and installed it without any issues, it’s working just fine for my needs (although the sliders indicators when adjusting lightning is still not working on my keyboard yet…
I have a question that perhaps has been dealt with but cannot find answers: Is there any way that we could add a watermark on the pictures as a final step? Not using LR, only NX-Studio and can’t find out a way to make an easy addition to watermark my pictures…
Me I consider myself a hopelessly lost cause in this case. Even though it shouldn’t be that difficult, being a Swede living in Spain, running things in English…
I can’t address the possibility of Topaz adding a layered preset option to overlay a watermark on your images (whch I don’t ever do because it detracts from photos & others can remove them easily nowadays - unless it’s an overall watermark that would be more challenging to remove) as a new product feature.
Is the NX Studio you mention a Nikon proprietary processing package? If yes, they have a tool in it to overlay a watermark that’s on a transparent layer onto your images. Depending on the version you have it may be under an Image menu. It should either be called a Watermark feature or a Label feature.
Another option, give FastStone (free) a quick look. Or, FastStone Photo Resizer,
Thank you @Fotomaker for your reply. I must apologize…
I wrote “watermark” while I wanted to ask about adding a signature instead!
My wrong, sorry for wasting your time!
To avoid leaving your answer out of context, I won’t edit my op, instead, will tag again @Lingyu and @Ange.topazlabs in the hope they’ll read this clarification.
Now, addressing your reply, yes, NX Studio is a Nikon program, that works for me better than anything else I’ve tried (not very good at it, tbh).
I don’t find anywhere the overlay you mention anyway, and I’ve been using NXS since it first came out on its first version… (coming from NX-D before and Capture NX-2, so I’d hope I’m quite familiar with it after so many years using their programs…)
Fast Stone: I have it and use it for culling (faster than NXS) and occasionally for removing small things using their cloning feature, but haven’t tried to find a signature option (as yourself, I never watermark my pictures).
Will try to find within FS the option I’m looking for. Thanks!
I have the same issue, it was said on another thread that it could be the keyboard not being an English native, so I changed and tried on a US keyboard and it didn’t work…
