I am adding an observation…
Since the last post, I’ve tested several more photos with Sharpen before vs. after Upscale (by saving and re-opening for doing it after). Some low-res images benefit greatly from doing Sharpen after Upscale, it doesn’t matter on others, and a few are better with the current TPAI method.
More specifically, color picure with people as subjects typically come out better with Sharpen last. Monochrome architechural images mostly work slightly better with Sharpen first, but one came out the same either way.
Clearly, we need to be able to rearrange the order of these two steps. After more of us try it on more images, it should also be possible to give some criteria for AutoPilot to guess right in many cases.
