Topaz Photo AI and MacOS Sonoma

Apple released MacOS Sonoma a few days ago. Is anyone, who updated to the new OS, having issues with Photo AI?

I have updated to macOS Sonoma, so far I don’t have noticed any Issues with PhotoAI

@david_michael.jacobs Are you having issues with Sonoma? We had roughly 2k people try it out on release day and there are no known systemic issues.

I just updated to Sonoma Thursday and I tried to use the photo AI 2.0.3 and it is completely unusable, lock ups. Not being able to click anything and so on.

Updated to Sonoma a couple of days ago. Tried to use Topaz AI tonight. No go. It shows 2 updates. When I click the Updates link, it crashes. Got Denoise. Needed to allow it to access internet. Sharpen starts a little flashing light show.

Same here, since Sonoma on MacBook Air with M1 processor Topaz with open and edit bit won’t save back to Photos App.
It’s really annoying, I have some lovely photos that need a bit of Topaz magic!

TL;DR: Savin images back from TPAI to Apple Photos will only work for small images (like 1600x1200) or for larger images if they are in landscape format.
Anything high-res in portrait orientation will fail.

There’s an ugly workaround:

either rotate the image to landscape before editing in TPAI
or
just crop the image by a few pixels in Apple photos before sending it to TPAI - then it’ll save back successfully.

I am having issues with Topaz AI Denise and Sharpen. I updated to Sonoma 14.1. They do NOT crash but they flash on and off to the point where you give up trying to use it.

In reading Topaz Labs online statements over the past year my understanding is Topaz Sharpen AI, Gigapixel AI and DeNoise AI have been rolled in to Topaz Photo AI.

This is to say Topaz Labs’ intention seems to be to continue support of Photo AI and Video AI, but not the above listed apps, or the older Topaz Studio, Texture Effects 1-2. What is happening to Topaz Mask AI is not clear, but my guess is as Photoshop’s masking improvements will see Topaz Labs discontinue their masking app’.

Topaz, please confirm.

It’s perfectly clear - it’s been classed as a legacy app for quite some time now, i.e. it’s neither sold nor supported now:

Newest 2.2.0 and 2.1.4 will not run on Sonoma 14.2.1 - MBP M1 chip- app is entirely unusable.

Since I did the update to MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1 (23C71), Topaz is not working at all, not even launching! I tried to downgrade to the old edition, Same problem!!

No problem here and I am on 14.3b. Try deleting all the TPAI plist files.
