Now that Topaz Gigapixel and Topaz Bloom are shipping embedded in Photoshop v27 is there any point in subscribing to these if you have a Photoshop subscription.
I just noticed this a few minutes ago while exploring Photoshop 27. “Embedded” may not be the right word as Adobe calls them “partner models”.
“Partner models” may just mean Gigapixel and Bloom are approved or certified by Adobe to work seamlessly with Adobe products. This is good for debugging any future Topaz - Adobe interface problems.
Oh…here’s a link about it.
It makes me worry that they will soon be going away as an independent company.
edit: Well, since 60-70% of my upscales in Bloom failed in the last few days this is a welcome addition on a first look basis.
addendum: Well, I got 1 upscale before the “complementary generations” were used up. Seemingly it doesn’t suffice to have a Topaz subscription for this, you need the much more expensive Adobe credits for this. Meaning: unusable
Hi Oliver.
If you’re using the Gigapixel as a Partner Model for Upscaling then, Photoshop consume between Ten and Twenty Credits depending on the size of image and there’s an Upscale limitation
For Topaz Subscripers it’s better for us to continue using the File Automate method as you’ll have a lot more control, the image size limit is 32,000 pixels and it won’t cost you any Adobe Credits.
Having said that, there could be a tendency to be lazy with a quick edit and say to yourself, what the heck it’s only Ten Credits
Whereas, Topaz Bloom will cost Thirty Five Credits per image and for that it only Renders one image admittedly that will be a much higher resolution image than images generated by Adobe’s Firefly or Nano Banana but never the less, a single image.
For Topaz Subscripers it’s better for us to continue using our Studio version of Bloom because, you can generate up to Four versions of your Images at a time and our subscription includes unlimited image Renderings plus with Adobe taking Thirty Five Credits per every image generated you’re less likely to be lazy and opt for the Adobe Bloom version
Hope this helps
Thank you for your detailed answer. I already discovered the 35 credit cost for Bloom. I was just hoping that it was kind of an integration like Photo. Maybe there’ll be plugins for other Topaz apps for PS.
Anyway, the Adobe Premium credits are way too expensive. With a monthly subscription you’d get 2000 credits resulting in 35 Bloom upscales for example. Well, using Bloom directly is more versatile, I get up to 4 images and can (within limits) modify the result with a prompt. I only wish I’d be more stable. Like I said, in the last few days it was hit or miss if it worked at all. I was stuck at “initializing” or it stalled at 90% or it just “failed”. The interfaces of the web apps should be harmonized, I guess there’s a queue for Bloom as there is for Gigapixel, only that it doesn’t show.
Yes there might be a queue and that can impact waiting times but, one thing though I was having similar issues and I noticed if I disable my VPN Bloom runs a lot smoother this is also the case with Starlight
In my case it has to be a different issue then, didn’t have a VPN active. Similar problem with Mosaic, uploaded an image, stuck at 90% for a day, no updates. I get the feeling Topaz underestimated the server demand. Time to integrate Bloom into GP for example.
Personally I haven’t experienced long processing times, stalling or queuing but, that’s not to say it doesn’t happen I just haven’t experienced delays yet.
Combining, Bloom with Gigapixel would be intriguing however, I can’t see it happening because, Gigapixel has it’s own creative Redefine Model and from Topaz’s point of view it would make more sense to keep them available separately for both individual and different Studio Plans plus, more revenue to be made that way. That’s not to say it won’t happen in the future either as a bundle or part of a smaller Studio Plan.
