Hi, as an ex-BBC nut and a very fussy user of Topaz over the years, it is a delight to be wading through the freatures of the latest release Version 1.2.0.
I have some rather important HD 60P video footage which was shot on a fixed wide lens GoPro equivalent some years ago, at a very worthy event organised by Joss Ackland (RIP).
Most of the footage was shot on wide angle other cameras in pairs for a totally 3D presentation. Synchronised rudimentarily by the use of wired start / stop operations on all cameras. HOWEVER, there are inevitable sync anomalies.
Back to the subject - I was trying to accuratley sync visually by zooming in to the video streams, and thought I’d try to upscale them first using RHEA. Having run through, I zoomed into one stream to see if I could check timings of lip movement, or any other obvious activity to use as a proof of correct sync. I was simply blown away with the actual result quality of the up converted video from the RHEA setting. I have a facial image zoomed in, on the UHD upscale, side by side with the original HD version - from a 3MOS sensor - so really good in the first place. The UHD version (remember, I am an ex-BBC cameraman) is just incredibly clean. Colour ‘bleed’ on the HD outlines in the original has VANISHED! Detail from a slightlly fuzzy blocky face - has re-appeared smoothly. This makes me think seriously about a conversation with you guys about several video relavent features that ‘could’ be added to make this a top line ‘stand alone’ tool for broadcasters as a suite of final finishing tools. WHO should I talk to? CONGRATULATIONS - for an amazing advance in the toolset!
