It seems over the last 2 months I’ve been getting repeated demands to re-verify my Topaz software - TPAI & GPAI full and beta versions on both my desktop and laptop computers.
No hardware changes on either computer.
Are these re-verify demands perhaps caused by Win 10 and Win 11 updates ?
I don’t recall so many verification demands last year and over the previous years.
Why so many now?
It’s really annoying and renders the software unusable on my laptop when I’m travelling and don’t have internet access.
The number of re-verify requests recently is unacceptable.
Actually I don’t think any re-verification should be necessary unless there is a new install on different hardware.
I’m thinking it’s by design as this seems like a consumer-hostile company any way, as we now have to spend nearly the same price of the program annually in order to get updates, add to that, aggressive re-authentication for people that supported the company’s product…
I spent several years paying hundreds because I believed in this company, but they just gave us the finger with the abusive monetisation and continual re-authentication, which is not needed despite their paranoia with pirates…
Too bad this company isn’t run like Blackmagic, as they don’t need to pester their consumer base with nickel and diming, while disrupting access to their program for people that pay hundreds just to keep their programs up-to-date.
I love the tech, and program as there is nothing that compares, but the company’s contempt for their supporters leaves a bad taste in my mouth!
I agree. Bought 2 GPU’s for Topaz Video to speed things up and then they just removed the option to use more than 1 GPU unless I pay some crazy amount of money beyond my budget, as it’s just a hobby for me. We need the competition to step up and that will happen. Until then, we’re scr*wed.
Yeah, I’m not paying over $400 for two of the programs that I bought, just for **updates, you’re almost paying for the programs all over again annually.
**(Upgrades yeah I can understand those being a paid feature, but updates? That’s just predatory…)
Most of the entrepreneurial, as well as pro-corporation and corpo-sycophants won’t understand, nor try to comprehend is the fundamental and unmutable fact that the business/customer dynamic is wholly symbiotic, as you cannot run a business without customers, and you won’t be able to purchase a product without the business…
It should be symbolically tattooed on the forehead of every econ major once they graduate college, as running a company whose sole purpose is profit above all else, is nothing more than a predatory corporation that will be motivated to legally rip off/nickel and dime their customers at every turn!
Sure, making a profit is another fundamental with business, I mean, otherwise, what’s the point?
But to solely be profit-driven is an extreme imbalance between the symbiosis between the two, it’s why there’s a need for consumer advocacy agencies and the like, as most corporations lack the self-control not to legally bilk their customers, particularly when they have an advantage to do so.
I hate software that requires constant online or repeated verification, I won’t buy software like this if I know about it in advance and I won’t renew for software I have already paid for.
Yeah, the re-authentication bollocks was added retroactively otherwise I would have not bought this program, and the annual sub amounts to nearly $600 for all three of their programs.
It is annoying to say the least, every time verrification. For me, as an Topaz user for over a decade, it is getting useless to continue working with Topaz. No transparency in what the pricing will be. My latest purchases were $ 64 for Gigapixel AI and $ 84,00 for Photo Ai Now i am looking at least double or triple that amount. So i will not do that. And at the end of the licence i will not renew.
By cancelling the auto renewals, that locked in the same prices you had, you are revoking your access to the locked special prices. For the authentication, it will only ask every 6 months unless you have a brand new app install, or have a registry cleaner clearing the authentication file.
It is stated in Photo Ai 4 that as a ‘Founder” i would have the same price. However i can not find anything about that in my account. Whai i see is:

9/16 has already passed it is 10/17 now. In my account i find nowhere to download (not in the old topazlabs.c..my-account and the new account.topazlabs.c..) Studio. Only Gigapixel Ai and Photo Ai and all the legacy versions of all the software i purchased.
When i am in my new (the moved) account i can click on the upgrade butten and then i get send to 3 options:

Neither one looks likes a “special” price to me. My photo Ai licence will end in two days and I cancelled the auto renewal/ payment method because i will not pay $ 444,00 for software i used to pay more than half for it.

You have however since cancelled your renewals. You can turn them back in in your Subscriptions page. Keeping them on would lock the same prices you had: 84$ for Photo AI and 64$ for Gigapixel, which, both on will give access to Studio.
Right now you have no renewals on as you cancelled them and will lose Studio at the expiry dates.
