Toggle for Subject Detection

The subject detection works rather well most of the time in Photo AI. I was wondering if this code could be written into the Mask AI program as that auto-detection option doesn’t work very well at all? Alternatively, could the Photo AI subject detection be saved as a separate mask layer?

Hi @cheddyfraud-20645, I’m afraid Mask AI is one of our ‘legacy’ apps that have discontinued development for, but I’ll move your Photo AI request to our “Ideas” thread

Thank you, Preston. I would find this improvement very useful as I’m sure many others would too.

I am surprised that there was not a sky mask. I wanted to process the sky separate from the subject.

There is not a sky mask yet, but this is a common feature request! I added your vote

I often have photos that do not have a clear subject (eg. Northern Lights photos). A toggle for Subject detection (similar to those for the other functions) would 1) eliminate the wait for the program to try to find a subject and 2) eliminate the need to go into the sub-menu to select “None” and then “Done” when the program incorrectly thinks it found a subject. Furthermore, it would streamline the process when sharpening is desired across the whole image and not just the subject.

Turn it on when you need it by: Select

Select what type of Subject then, if needed, refine using the brush:
