This was our base on Holy Island for a while this month. Formerly smoke houses where herrings were taken fresh from the boats and turned in to kippers.

Another place well worth the visit in the UK for our non-UK readers. The island has a rugged tranquility and one can see why it became a holy site. The rest of the coastline nearby is superb and unspoilt
