Starlight mini suddenly unusably slow

The bug: I have been using starlight mini with great success to restore some old home video transfers. On average, I was consistently getting .5 fps on all videos. While slow, this still allowed enough speed to be usable. I could start a render when I go to bed and generally it would be done by the time I woke up or when I returned home from work the next day. Now, I can not seem to get any high than .2 fps and that will almost always drop to .1 fps. This happened prior to the new version and did not coincide to any changes in Topaz or model versions, windows updates, or driver updates. I have attempted rolling back to previous versions of topaz but the speeds remain the same. I also tried processing videos that I had previously done and those are now also going incredibly slow.

Are you sure that you use the same output resolution as before?
Cause this is what affects the speed of SL mini the most.

Okay so this is interesting. If I go back to the last version of topaz video AI and choose starlight mini, it tells me what the minimum resolution I can choose is. If I choose that, I get .5 fps again. So resolutions does starlight mini work best with?

Unfortunately shown resolution in the output section can (but doesn’t have to) be wrong, this is a bug. Speed pends on set upcale resolution.

In addition sometimes Starlight does not what you have set, for example you did 3x or 4x and Starlight does 2x, I’m not sure if this is fixed, I don’t think so. If this is the case, close the source file and reopen helps.

Over time you will know what is how fast and it will also become clear what SL is doing. I can’t talk about newest version i’m still working with 7.02, here is the minimum resolution:
when content is 16:9 → 720p (1280x720)
when content is 4:3 → 960p (1280x960)

while 960p is about 33% slower, because 1280x720 gives 921.600 pixels and 1280x960 gives 1.228.800

Can you run the same process in Topaz Video 1.0.4 and send the updated logs?
