Starlight cloud only 3 minutes max?

I have 325 credits and I want to process a movie using the cloud because it ALWAYS crashes when I try it locally. Just got back from a 8 day vacation and I had it queued to process a film in 5 minute chunks. It finished one and then crashed on the second.

BUT when I click on “Cloud export” I am presented with a window that says “Trim to desired 03:00 you wish to preview, then proceed”. I don’t want to preview. I just want to render the entire film. If I pick a 3 minute section and click “Send to cloud” then I’m presented with a window that says:

20 min 147. This cloud export costs 147 credits. Find your export in the “Cloud exports” section.

Super not reassuring. I only selected a 3 minute section! And it’s preview, why would it cost any credits?

Depeding on the model chosen the cloud workflow can have a limit on the length of the video it can process.

Starlight models are limited to 9000 frames, which equals 5 minutes when a video is set to 30 fps, if your video is of a higher frame rate that total time will be shorter.

Are you using the Astra tool and seeing a cloud credit cost for the preview? That is expected as all processing in Astra does require cloud credits.

If you are running a preview from the desktop app on your system, then there should not be a credit cost. However, there is not a preview option with the Starlight models at this time, you can only export the clip out.

Can you share a screenshot of what you are seeing with the preview cost?

I click on “Cloud export” I see this:

Then I click on “Send to cloud” and I see this:

You mention the fps, mine is 50. So yeah, 3 minutes seems right. But then why is the UI calling it a preview, and then saying that I’m sending 19 minutes for 150 credits? Is it trying to say that it will take 19 minutes? I tried a 25fps file and indeed, it lets me select 6 minutes. But still calls it a preview, “Trim to desired 06:00 you wish to preview, then proceed”
