The source material are the european PAL-DVDs.
Good work! I’m on a Star Trek Voyager project, but I only work on it occasionally and it will take months. I don’t want to rush things either and am working my way forward step by step.
The current status is that I am deinterlacing all the episodes with Vaporsynth QTGMC Ultraslow and output FFV1 and bring them from 720x576 to 768x576 (spline resize) …that alone takes some weeks, now 2/3 is complete.
Then I examine material on noise level and find the optimal denoise filter and settings (not in TVAI) until here all is lossless codec done.
TVAI upscale then would happen on a second computer runs 24-hours a day. My hopes are pinned on Rhea XL, but this model has fallen flat for the time being, too many “bugs”
but i’m not fooling myself there is currently no model that gives good results for all scenes, so scene based models is the way, but I can’t do that for 140+ Episodes. I think it’s important to have a solid base with the source material, if there are better models later I can use it again for upscales
