Smaller DNG?

Is there a reason why DNG’s are 5 to 6 times bigger than the RAW file that is loaded into Photo AI? Sure there may be more / different information in the processed image but am wondering why they are ballooning to be so much larger than the original file. What’s worse is when you upsace an image they can get to 100’sMB or even 1GB+ which is huge. It would be good if they could get to 3x bigger at maximum if possible

The DNG output file size is expected behavior. The original RAW file is likely compressed while our DNG export is full size and uncompressed so the output file is larger.

We do not have access to a DNG compression algorithm as that is proprietary to Adobe. If you need to decrease the DNG file size, use Adobe DNG Converter to compress the DNG file to a smaller size.

That I guess explains the issue it is unfortunate then that you can’t license their tech as I said some files are getting crazy big for what would seem no real reason.

Yeah, if we could compress it we would so that the files are more manageable to store.

Should you convert the Photo AI DNG before you import into LRC? Has anyone tried the Adobe DNG Converter with Topaz DNG files?
