Sharpen AI v4.0

Just search for 14.31.31103, there are many sources where it is available. AFAIK, uninstalling older versions can affect other applications which rely on them

Thanks - I’m at 3.3.6 now and I think I’ll wait until Topaz fixes it.

So some people appear to have fixed the issue with 4.0.1 by updating Visual C++ redistributable. Topaz has been completely silent on this issue. Is this the correct fix? Should we wait for their update? Or? All I hear is silence. Not good.

Strangely enough I don’t seem to have the problem any more. It seems to me like Topaz released a new standard model (v3) inadvertently that caused the error and now maybe they have removed that model?

Updated to Sharpen 4.0.1 and receiving error on two of Sharpen Model - Normal and Motion Blur - Normal. The program first states that it needs to download the modules and then produces the error ā€œProcessing Errorā€ Error Processing image, please try again. If problem persists, try updating your device drivers or switching to a different AL processor in preferences. Occurring only on the following two modules: System is Windows 11 with current updates

If this is true, why doesn’t Topaz tell us? Been 1 week since 4.0.1 has been released.

v4.0.2
Released February 24th, 2022

Windows: Online | Full
Mac: Full

Just to confirm that v4.0.2 opens successfully as a layer in On1 Photo Raw without having to update the plugin.

Regarding version 4.0.2. Auto select of a mask is not working. Just get a spinning circle. Any ideas? I did not do the full installer from 4.0.1 but rather the updater. Does this make a difference?

Adding an update.…… still get nothing but a spinning circle…… HOWEVER when I click on the refine button I see a mask HAS been generated!!! Clicking on apply changes seems to make the change however the spinning circle reappears and NOT the mask has things previously worked.

Bug?

There was an issue with an internal update to the Standard model not downloading correctly. If you are having issues with the Standard model not updating the preview, auto model getting stuck on ā€œDetectingā€¦ā€, or auto mask getting stuck on the spinning circle (but being available if you hit refine), then re-opening the app should fix it.

Looks like so far 4.0.2 appears to have fixed the problem in the Standard mode! Looks like this was the issue with the standard mode: ā€œFixed issues with auto model suggesting versions of models that aren’t compatible with the current version of Sharpenā€

When I click on refine a mask and make changes with the brush, subtract in this case, the update/apply, update preview isn’t working. I can’t see a preview, only apply. Tried it as stand alone and through LR, same results

… I could use a bit of clarity here. Am I supposed to have Photoshop open while I update Sharpen, close Photoshop after the update, and then wait for Sharpen to open itself and install the plugin? Or does ā€œonce you installā€ mean ā€œbefore you installā€ in the native Topaz language?

It’s either the strangest update process I’ve ever seen, or else the instructions need a tweak. Or both?

Vast improvement in 4.0.2!! Processing speed is improved, & us southpaws Thank You for the ability to shift the control panel to the left side of the screen!
Tried an image i was going to cull due to severe motion blur, thought i’d give it a whirl anyway & was surprised by the results! The sharpening process created some artifacts, & it doesn’t seem to matter how low i set the sliders.

4.0.2 so far so good. One hickup: the Open Recent no longer populates. Which is fine with me as previously I had to open the Registry to remove the recently use file name so they didn’t display in the application.

You should never upgrade to new software if you’ve got a deadline like that. Meet your deadline, then do the update, IMHO.

Video Enhance AI includes the option to download all models.

Please include this option for all of your software, including Sharpen AI.

Had many issues with Lightroom Classic or Photoshop plugins on the beta or the releases and this has been quite annoying. This time Sharpen in both LR and PS crashes, flickering, with the following message.
Processing Error, Error loading model, please try again. If problem persists try switching to a different AI processor in preferences. I have to force quit Sharpen every time.

I uploaded the full version and it is the same issue.
The message to load the plugins into PS comes up fine and there seems to be no problem. Same through Help. However the plugin crashes. The standalone Sharpen works fine.
My system:
Mac Pro (Late 2013) 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 AMD FirePro D700 6 GB
I restarted my computer, closed the apps, same problem.

Here’s all the models:

https://pastebin.com/u9qMTenC

ov.tz = Intel OpenVINO, CPU accellerated models, works on AMD as well if they have the needed instruction sets.

ox.tz = Open Neural Network Exchange, for GPU’s.

tf.tz = Tensorflow. I thought this was not used any more? So, not sure if/how/when the program uses these.

ml.tz = CoreML, for Apple. Does nothing on Windows.

The program will automatically select fp16 or fp32 depending on your system.

I believe there are only 512x512 block sizes for download, the rest are installed with the program for all model types.
ā €

The program can run without a GPU, using MESA. Download this, extract, put opengl32.dll and libglapi.dll into the application directory (C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Sharpen AI).

With regard to masking, are there any plans to add the functionality of saving a mask and even importing or exporting one? It’s not even possible to import one from Mask AI, which is a Topaz programme.
It is very frustrating to create a mask within SAI and then have to do so all over again back in my main editing programme if I want to, say, add background blur!
