A friend has now offered me help with his server, i.e. a computer with a very fast CPU but without a GPU. Could the Video AI algorithms run without a GPU under these circumstances? Has anyone had any experience?
It should run. No idea how it scales. By ‘very fast’ you probably mean slow, but lots of cores. So ‘fast’, provided TVAI can use all those cores.
If it’s running linux, you’ll have to get the TVAI linux beta.
Yes they will run but about 20 times slower.
I think your friend wont be happy when his server is hammered for hours every day by VEAI.
Thank you for your assessment. The consequence would be: I have to test it. But I can’t test it on my own because I don’t have a PC. I’ve only been working with an iMac for many years. It’s actually fast enough, even for video editing with FCPX. But absolutely not built for Topaz. Even with the new M2/M3 chip, performance is limited. That’s why I’m looking for alternatives.
