Hi I have both Topaz Ai and Topaz Video but that aside I have an RTX 2080ti (actually I have two of them but only use one…perhaps that second one gathering dust should go into my pc) and looking to improve performance. Is there a thread here somewhere that discusses the relative benefits of AMD vs NVIDIA and what kind of gains one can get generationally? For example I can get a relatively cheap RTX 5070 but could spend that same money on a used 3090 or even a 4080 for example. I do not have the budget to stretch to the world of the 5080 onwards for sure, so looking to maximise Topaz performance around the $1,000 mark. I do not play any games at all (sadly).
As I look more closely I can stretch to a new RTX 5070ti or a used 4080 Super. And it seems maybe to 5th generation will become better optimised down the road, if not so at the moment. The whole world of AMD of course I cannot figure out related to Topaz. I could buy TWO refurb RX7900 XTX cards for one RTX 5070ti
no, they do show up on all PCIe systems. In fact the standard RTX 4070 on my PCIx 3.0 system is as fast as the RTX 5070 Ti on my PCIe 5.0 systems (B650, X670 and X870 tested) using specific Topaz presets, depending on which post processing methods are used. Using my preset posted in another threat both have pretty much equal performance, while the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is significantly faster.
Ok interesting, I also have a 4070Ti Super, what I observe is my 5090 is almost twice as fast…as it should be from the data. (Asus B850 Board with newest Firmware, also checked my gpu has 16 lanes). My 4070Ti Super is in a other PC with AM5 B650 Board.
from my obversation this depends on the Topaz setting. I have a specific Nyx3 setting, which shows the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER much faster than the RTX 5070 Ti. Would be very interesting to know the RTX 5090 performance using this preset.
