Recoverable Errors

One thing that drives me crazy is Topaz Video’s error reporting and handling. It’s basically two errors as far as a user is concerned. “Error - Send us your logs” or “Recoverable Error, Retry.”

For me, this gives me no idea why something failed so I don’t have a clue as what to check or try.

The recoverable error is just silly, IMHO. Why do I have have to press “Retry”, why doesn’t it just try again in like 20 seconds or something? You know how frustrating it is when you’re using Starlight and it tells you 14 hours to go and you check 10 hours later and it has a “Recoverable Error, Retry” that happened 20 minutes after starting?

Please consider getting rid of the “Recoverable Error, Retry” or make it an option in preferences to automatically retry again. I can always stop the process if I think it has tried recovering too many times. Or maybe a user settable retry count.

Moving this to the Ideas section since you proposed an idea for an option to have the app automatically retry the error if it gets stalled.

Plus, there have been requests for improved error messaging when possible in the app and several have been added or adjusted to help with common errors. If the app gives you the “send logs” option then it is most likely an error that needs to be reviewed by the support team or devs for better understanding on what steps to try.
