[READ ME] Understanding Releases

Number Format

Release numbers are formatted to convey information about the release:

version.feature.patch

Version: Major updates, often with compatibility changes or significant new models.
Feature: Adds improvements or new functionality within the same version.
Patch: Fixes bugs and applies minor refinements.

Factors to Consider

Are you looking for a previous release that:

  • is compatible with hardware limitations?
  • had a function that was preferred over the latest release?
  • didn’t include a bug that the new version introduced?

Recommendations

If you’re having issues with compatibility, consider the current system requirements and choose an earlier version.

We recommend v6.3.3 for under-spec systems compatible with legacy requirements
We recommend v8.2.2 if you cannot update to the latest build of Windows 10

If you prefer functionality from a previous release, use the last feature release that included the functionality you liked better.

We recommend v7.4.4 if you do not want cloud-generative features

If you’re experiencing a bug that snuck into a new release, use a previous patch release that didn’t include the bug, or update to a newer patch that you haven’t yet installed.

We recommend v8.3.4 if you’re experiencing excessive model errors

Accessing Previous Installers

Installers are linked in posts for each release. Detailed notes are included, and community comments often provide helpful context about performance or known issues.

Compatibility Conflicts

One solution we recommend is to take advantage of our web apps.

Various features from Gigapixel are available on the web and accessible from a wider range of systems that might be incompatible with the studio app.
