Hi, I am a senior User Experience designer, and I come here with some simple ideas to make sure your app is not wasteful anymore.
Topaz should never EVER autodelete anything.
Upscales take hours and hours of course. But this is an app that claims to be “pro”. If you evaluate briefly, you will find that under no circumstances is it a good idea to delete something that’s been processing for hours. I’ve literally had combined DAYS of progress ruined, but upscaled footage deleted because you press STOP is the final straw.
There may be a language barrier, but STOP does not in any way ever EVER EVER mean DELETE EVERYTHING WE JUST DID. That’s why other PROFESSIONAL software DOES NOT DO THIS.
Yesterday after upscaling with Starlight Mini for 8 hours, topaz changed the out point of the video to the end of the source file WHILE upscaling. What were my options then? Cannot pause, can only stop/close the video. But in Topazland, Stop doesn’t just mean stop, it means sabotage.
Had i realized Topaz does this, I could’ve copied the temp file before it got irreversibly deleted. Or I could’ve forced Topaz to quit from the Task Manager, leaving the file behind.
But I pressed stop, and you guys think that means “DELETE EVERYTHING”.
I am here to tell you that “STOP” just means “STOP”. As in, stop upscaling process.
If you delete the file, the process is irrecoverable. You’ve literally just deleted 8 hours of my GPU sweating FOR NO REASON. We’re talking about a 150mb file that’s been processing for HOURS.
Stop “trying to figure out how to make this work”, just remove all “delete” commands from your scripts. That’s literally ALL standing between Topaz the app that ruins your day, and Topaz the actual Pro app that’s a bit finicky.
I can live with a fragile bugs galore app. What I cannot live with is a fragile bugs galore app that SABOTAGES the processing. If you continue to do that, stop calling your app PRO and discount it.
