Hi all,
Interested to see if older models like Gaia are expected to perform better / worse across Topaz Video AI (legacy?) or Topaz Video.
Even though I’m a founder subscriber on the new digs, I’ve been stuck on Topaz Video AI 4.2.2 due to this bug: ProRes MOV Files From Topaz Video 1.0.2 Not Importing Into Adobe Apps - #6 by ShoeStringBudget
Assuming that an FFMPEG repair fixes my files, I installed the latest Topaz Video AI and Topaz Video apps. In real world performance, Chronos + Gaia + 1080/27 to 4K/60 is faster in Topaz Video AI for me.
Specifically, on my renders, the combo averages about 12fps on Video AI vs 10fps on Video.
is this expected?
System:
- 13900K
- 7600mhz memory
- 5090 OC’d
The speed might be better. I remember the 50 series cards not being as fast as they should be when they came out.
Edit: Can you do a timed speed test? How long does it take for a sample video to complete in both versions?

On a 10min clip I saw about a 30 sec difference.
An average of about 12fps on Video AI vs 10fps on Video.
Doesn’t seem like much but my jobs take days, so it ends up making a huge difference over time.
I’ll run some renders tonight to see what I get over longer periods.

It looks like it saved me about 30min-1hr on a job. It completed in 6.5hr when 7hr is more common.
It might be perception, but I am seeing most of the job run with mid 12s vs Topaz Video which mainly runs at around 10.9.
