Paying for another year of Video AI updates before Sept. 16?

I received the e-mail about the change to a subscription model. It said:
“Because you own an active upgrade license to Video Al , you get access to the new Topaz Video and new pro-only models at no extra cost.”

Actually, I don’t have an active upgrade license. I am on v6.x. I didn’t pay for the next year of updates when my last paid year ended early in 2025.

Given that I don’t currently get updates, would there be any advantage/disadvantage to paying the $149 USD for another year of updates before Sept. 16?

If you pay the $149 and check the box for automatic updates, you’ll essentially be signing up for a Studio subscription for $149 per year, which works out to $12.42 a month. Pricing for new subscriptions hasn’t been posted, but presumably they’re going to be more than that.

If you want to lock in that lower price I would take advantage of that before the change over.
