I come back to checking out Topaz to see if anything has really changed … primarily due to a promotional email I received.
Unfortunately, Topaz marketing material is just as generic (not specific) and confusing as it was 1 year ago.
I have ZERO interest in cloud rendering yet Topaz are NOT clear what AI models I can use for local rendering and still don’t clarify what models support multiple GPUs and what version of Topaz supports multiple GPUs.
I get an email saying I can render more models locally 5:
So I click on “Learn More” and what do I get … nothing that tells only ONE Video model is available local and that is “Starlight Precise 2.5 (local)”??
I read more and sure enough it’s the ONE and ONLY local model available, the rest are still all “Cloud”:
So click on Topaz Studio that suggests I get All the Apps … but still only ONE local model for video
so I click on “Compare Plans” and this is all I get? “Unlimited local rendering” … say what? Is Topaz trying to charge me for doing my own local rendering using my hardware?? Why is this listed as a “Feature”?
Still doesn’t list anything specific. When a company avoids specific details of there features/policies on what can and can’t be done with their applications, that’s usually a BIG RED warning flag.
So Topaz where is there an exact list of all your apps (that really should only be two video apps … photo/image) that specify the following:
- Does it render locally and if so what models are supported?
- Are there any locally rendered model restricted in quality (so as to encourage a user to use Cloud models and pay a cost)?
- What apps & models support multiple GPUs locally?
- What refund options do we have if your local rendered workflows keep failing?
- What features and/or parameter control is provided in each app?
Most software retail vendors will provide a proper “Compare Versions” list with a checkbox of what each version … Topaz provides nothing (even a year later, same generic confusing website with little or no details).
