I have had stand alone topaz denoise ai and sharpen ai and am considering purchasing the new ON1 Photo RAW 2024.5. My question is…does the sharpen AI in this program have the adjustments shown on the attachment I show here? I’ve heard rumors that the sharpen ai interface has changed from what I’m used to.
I’d appreciate the help! Thank you!
I am puzzled by your question, since you obviously own TSAI. Do you have the latest version? If you do, you can see what the interface looks like.
I use ON1 2024.5 as my main photo editing programme. Although I have TPAI, which has officially replaced SAI, I can confirm that SAI works fine as a plug-in to ON1. there are instructions on how to install it as a PhotoShop layer, or you can use the Edit In function.
I’m confused by your comment as well lol. Such as texting. Not sure what SAI vs TPAI is. I downloaded the latest stand-alone version of topaz sharpen ai and the interface is different. I am talking strictly using Topaz sharpen ai from Lightroom. From LR it used to use the topaz sharpen ai program layout as shown in my initial post here. But now it shows this one (attached). I don’t understand this.
So the reason for me asking all this is to get away from this lousy latest “upgrade” with less options to sharpen I thought I’d upgrade to the full suite.
Topaz Sharpen AI is discontinued and will receive no further upgrades, ditto DeNoise. In their place is Topaz Photo AI. However, many users still find the older Topaz products do a better job. I shall certainly continue to use them until they become incompatible with My OS (currently Mac Sonoma).
So, I am not sure where On1 comes in to the equation. Do you intend to purchase it to use its noise and sharpening functions? If so, much as I like it and even though I substituted it for LR/PS several years ago, I still prefer the Topaz products. On many images, On1 NoNoise AI does an acceptable job, but it still fails miserably in very lowlight situations. TackSharp AI is useless.
By far the best denoising programme in my view is DxO PureRaw, with Topaz a fairly close second. It’s expensive, but as a casual user I just make use of the free trail of the latest version once a year LOL. For sharpening, especially out of focus or motion blur images, Topaz is still way ahead of the competition.
