Mask AI crashes

No, it did not help. I updated NVIDIA driver to the latest R450 U2 (451.77), but Mask AI 1.2.5. does not work at all - or crashes or is stuck. The only way to close it is Ctrl+Alt+Del and end task.

For example, auto detect objects results in freezing:

“Compute mask” causes the crash either.

I did not have the issue during the version 1.1. And I would like to download and to use it. Where can I get it?

As I pointed out raise a support request at the main website. Also comment that when you use auto detect subjects it causes a crash when no people are there, it may be an issue with Quadro GPUs.

I am also wondering why you are using auto detect subjects? It will probably work better if there are people in the image as that is what it is aimed at.

It crashes and does not work properly at any operation, not only auto detect object. I never make photo’s of people (except of very few situations), most my pictures are something like this -

I need Mask AI just to mask certain parts of a photo to develop the rest (for example to remove noise from background or from out of focus parts, to make background more blurry or so). And yes, I have written a request at the main website. Now I have to wait for their reaction.

This solved my crashing problem. I only just purchased Mask AI today, but it crashed as a standalone and as a Photoshop plugin even after I updated my Nvidia drivers. After following your advice to set GPU Optimization to NO the application no longer crashes.

I just purchased this software today, and happened to have updated my RTX 2060 Drivers on NVIDIA’s site yesterday. When I click on AUTO DETECT SUBJECTS, it crashes. I tried to set it to use the CPU over the GPU, but that makes no difference. I have plenty of RAM, a fast enough CPU, etc. Yet no go.

Please open the Graphics info., in the Help menu, click Copy and paste the info here please.

I had the same problem and spent hours trying to figure it out. I finally came up with the solution that worked for me. Open the Nvidia console and navigate to “Manage 3D Settings”. Click on the “Program Settings” tab. Go to field 1 and add Topaz Mask AI. Go to field 2 and select High Performance Nvidia Processor. Apply and it works every time now. Hope this helps others. I tried to upload an image of the Nvidia window, but no go.

Just an FYI… All my AI plugins (running stand-alone or as filter in Studio 2) were resulting in APPCRASH (ntdll.dll). Turns out that once I disabled my NVIDIA GeForce GTX950M, everything worked fine. BTW, I’m running Windows 7. Maybe this will help someone. :wink:

Update: I was able to get Mask AI to work. I had to choose a very simple image for the first one with very little blue layer. Then it would process that, and after that I could process complex images no problem.

I just downloaded and tried to test Topaz Mask AI. When I try to do anything regarding detecting the sky or a subject or making a mask AI it hangs at One Time Performance Benchmarking: CPU.

When I use CPU instead of GPU it stops processing at processing mask: 11%

I have a windows 11 PC with an INtel 12900K cpu and an Nvidia RTX 3090 GPU. I have attached the dxdiag file.

File logging is not possible since it just hangs and never returns and you can’t exit the software cleanly
