In the background tab, you can blur the existing background. Would be very useful to be able to do this with an imported background image. This would help to create a sense of depth in an image as you would in a photo. That mountain range behind your subject is not likely to be sharper than the subject itself. 
Sure, one could edit the background image ahead of time by adding blur, but it’s hard to know how much is right without the context of the layered image.
