Lighting Strike

Ever try catching lighting in a bottle? Well that’s what I did last night. As you look at this image, you may be thinking ol’ Cabana Boy has gone around the bend. But in my defense, last night was wild! We had a 20 mile band of lightning rolling north along the west side of the Big Island. Both sheet and forked lighting was going off about every minute or so, often multiple strikes and flashes within seconds of each other. Most of it was out at sea, on the horizon, but it sounded like it was in our backyard. Honestly, it reminded me of those “Shock and Awe” images from the night we bombed Bagdad. I took eighty-three frames and, sigh, got just one that spoke to me this morning. After all that, well, I just had to do something with it. I also took about 10 minutes of video that I’m hoping to find a frame or two that I can do something with. We also got 2.5" of rain over several hours. Stay tuned…
