[KNOWN ISSUE] Starlight models gives error if any size other than original chosen with WMV and AVI inputs

I had this same issue in the last couple of beta versions. If I choose a size other than original Starlight sharp will make a 0KB mP4 file and fail. My output is set to make a ProRes mov.

If I choose original size it makes a file that is 960x720 but the quality is not nearly as good as it was in the original betas.
My source file is a 768x576 4x3 file deinterlaced by QTMGC into a ProRes Mov.

Hi David,

It looks like this is a odd compatibility issue with the .avi input that only affect it when upscaling.

Can you try converting your input using Handbrake and then try importing the converted version back into the app for processing?

  1. Drag and drop your video to import it

  2. I recommend going to the “dimensions” tab and under “resolution limit” > none

  3. I also recommend going to the “video” tab and under “framerate (FPS)” > Same as source

  4. Then click “start”

This will ensure that it retains the original resolution and frame rate with the converted file.

In the windows version of Topaz Video 1.0 all my exports failed with the following error: “Some parameter(s) may not be supported by the codec. Check FFmpeg command. - Current container (file extension) is not be supported by the codec. Try changing the file extension.”
