Topaz Photo AI seems to no longer support Apple iPhone HEIC files. Maybe it never did but I just noticed when trying to open several iPhone photo files.
Steps to reproduce issue:
Step 1 Open iPhone HEIC file.
Step 2 Says unsupported codec
Step 3 I’m using 2.1.3
Topaz Photo AI [v1.x.x] on [Windows/Mac]

It used to.
Something has broken.
Hope they’ll fix it soon as it’s worthless to me as is.
I’m sure they will get it fixed.
A temporary workaround is to convert the HEIC files to another format before opening in TPAI. On a Mac you can do this using the Preview app.
that or export from Lightroom or Apple Photos as a JPG. Just annoying to have to execute an extra step in the workflow. Hopefully this will be fixed with the next bug fix update.

Maybe it never did
At least until version 2.1.1 TPAI did of course support HEIC/HEIF format
I sent a note to support. I’m guessing they are hearing about it a lot.

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for sharing. Yes we saw this reported in the release thread and are working on a fix for it.
Let me know if there is anything else I can help with right now.
