What would be the best option if I have already made an upscale from STD to HD with a good result then upscale to 4K without losing any of clarity and the perfect look I got on the HD and without sharpening more? Currently I use Gaia since it’s the best option because it’s the only one dedicated to HQ upscales. But there is something that I lose on the sharpness and clarity that I have on the HD when upscaling with Gaia. Does anyone know what would be a better option than Gaia for what I am describing?
And if Tony or someone from the Topaz team reading this, can we expect something (new model) dedicated to HQ upscales that can do what I am describing exactly? Upscaling from HD to 4K without artifacts, losing sharpness, clarity etc.
New models are rolled out after the research team have completed training them. These models are first introduced in an alpha and/or beta version for user feedback before they make it into the full release. The process takes time, but the team is working on new models.
Once a model is released, developing and training the next version also takes time, and data is collected to find what areas might need to be improved.
Rhea was released in 5.2.0 last month, and the SRD to HDR is currently in alpha.
It’s like, at some point even more pixels won’t help because Topaz doesn’t just invent new content that isn’t there. The final resolution should be chosen so that it is reproduced sharply when viewed natively video resolution.
Assuming you have a 4k upscale but it’s blurry, you could have had the same result with 1080p, so 4k makes no sense and blows up the file size
Or if a 4k upscale is sharp but has artifacts looks unnatural, it is definitely not made for 4k and 1080p would have been the right choice.
Now in you’re case try Rhea, Proteus or what I often use is Artemis HQ. But if this 4k upscale makes it too “artificial”, it’s better to leave it at 1080p, even if it’s less sharp when viewed at full size on a big screen.
