I’m really curious how well this card will do in Topaz compared with a 7900 XTX. It seems to have a better AI/compute stack than the 7900 XTX.
I want to know too, but from what I can deduce so far, it’s about the same as what I already have.
Someone already posted about it here. It seems to be on par with a 4080 super! Almost 50% faster than a 7900 XTX. I bought a 9070 XT Hellhound and it should be here later today… I’ll do some testing.
Looks like I need to try to snipe one when I can.
Heh, I guess they all got bought out this morning. If those charts are based on the models I use, a 9070 XT should be a meaningful upgrade to my RTX 4070 ti.
I spent some time watching AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT In Stock Availability and Price Tracking and managed to snag a pre-order from Amazon for a XFX 9070 XT that will ship in 2 days. You gotta be fast, though.
This will replace my 2+ year old 7900 XTX. The 7900 XTX is faster in raster, but the 9070 XT is over 50% faster in Topaz.
I managed to get a 9070 XT on Newegg. It arrives Saturday. I can update this thread then and let you all know how it performs with a benchmark run against my 4070 Ti Super.

Nice! Did you OC or tweak the card performance any?
Interesting. It trades places in some models, like Proteus, it’s way faster than my 4070 ti in 1X, but it’s slower in 2X. I think it will still be an improvement for me because it’s significantly faster in Gaia and Nyx.
Would this rendition work with Topaz AI?

What’s odd is the Rhea score has actually gone down as I’ve messed with OC or UV. I had a few runs where it was in the 2.5 to 3 fps range. Not sure what that is about.
I would also assume Topaz would have to optimize for the 9070 XT. I’m shocked to see this within reach of a 4090…
Here are my results with my 7900 XTX before swapping out the GPU.

Your 7900 XTX results are much better than mine. I am guessing due to the X3D CPU you have. I am running a 7900X. I will definitely be getting a 9950X3D when they release in a week.
fantastic result brumult, if it’s not a secret what ram and at what frequency and model of the 9070 xt video card did you use?
Thanks!
I have the Powercolor Hellhound. I did try to get a Nitro+ or a Red Devil but this was all I could get…
The RAM OCes well, right now its at 2764 with fast timings. Voltage is at -100 and max frequency offset is at +355.
This model only has 2x 8 Pin connections… So I’m limited to +10% power and the card hits around 355 ish watts. I would prefer a card with 3x 8 pins and a higher power limit.
I’ve done some testing with the cache die vs the freq die and it doesn’t seem to matter much. Most importantly I locked FFMPEG to the freq die with process lasso and that helped more than limiting Topaz to either die.
Thanks for the information, the results are excellent though - congratulations on the new card
