There is a beach on the Big Island where I use to spend my lunch hour. Over time, I got to know a semi- homeless guy, Marcelle, who liked to body surf there, hang out and talk story. He had a really grand pair of woman’s Christian Dior sunglasses that he found on the bottom of the ocean floor. Apparently there was one spot at the end of the beach where the current would take all sorts of lost items from tourists getting maytagged by breakers pounding them into the beach. One day I asked him what was the weirdest thing that he had experienced on the beach? His reply was that he had broken a couple ribs when he hit a honu body surfing. (Black and White Effects 2)
