My GAI goes until October 2026. I am confused. Are people here saying that I will get no more updates? I have 8.4.2 now.
The screenshot gosa posted, as I would interpret it, says: No major updates in the form of perpetual versions, starting with a version that has yet to be disclosed by Topaz. The only correct way in terms of customer service and appreciation would be to roll out the new version that dies after its subscription runs out not earlier than in a year, when the subscriptions to owned versions have all run out. With this, there would have to be a halt by Topaz on all new subscriptions to owned products as well as extensions of existing ones. But I second what gosa wrote, the pay-or-trash-it model may start with 8.5 and anyone that has subscribed or extended during the last couple of days will not get what was paid for, which is a post-8.4.2-version that is permanently owned.
BTW, a subscription model will likely require online validation of existing subscription any time GPAI fires up. The commodity of using GPAI in an offline environment will probably be gone by then.
BTW2: Never got the e-mail about the new subscription model. No, it is not in my SPAM folders, either.
In that post, I tested it with Qwen Image Edit. But it was a bit too artificial. That’s why later on, I used Supri AI and at the end I used Hypir AI.

And what I do is improve my photo output from my Galaxy S25 Ultra because at +/- 30-40 meters away, the quality is really not great.
Amen to that!
I have mine running out February 2026 which is also quite far off… And I’m equally confused.
I thought I paid for a year of free “whatever gets released” until my next payment, and if that’s not the case? I have to admit that being European I’m not fully on top of how everything works on Topaz Labs side of the pond, so forgive me for asking “Is that sh** even legal?” Or I’m being cheated by some fine print?
Another thing that popped up. I might have misunderstood, but one part of the FAQ said that my new subscription price will be the sum of the licenses I pay for today (in my case PAI+GAI). If that is the case, when do I get billed? In December when PAI runs out, or in February when GAI runs out? And what happens with the difference? If the new subscription kicks in when PAI December and I’m billed for PAI+GAI already I would be robbed off three months of paid GAI…
Is this thing really properly thought through?
Edit:
See that line at the bottom of my second screenshot? That is what I paid for. Not to be get my product frozen by mid September.
As of this morning, I now understand why 4.0.3 was the end of the road as we knew it.

There’s a new email going out about this as well to individual product holders, and I believe there will be a forum post on this with more details. Until then - this is where we’ll be centralizing the discussion on the Studio transition:
^ Let’s keep the Studio discussion there please, and the comments on this post should be linked to the Gigapixel release only. Moving related comments there now.
For those curious:
In short, you will continue to have access to your perpetual license of course, will receive patch updates, and will also receive subscription access to the new Studio version of Gigapixel for the length of your license. You also receive special “Founder” status giving you access to the Wonder model for Gigapixel which is otherwise a Pro feature, as well as a discounted price for Studio if you have auto-renewal enabled.
FYI if you purchase an additional product before the 16th you’ll be in the 2+ bundle camp which will give you full access to the entire Studio suite for a discounted price.
