Gigapixel v8.3.0

Hello!

We’re thrilled to announce the latest updates in Gigapixel v8.3.0, bringing you powerful features and enhancements for both local and cloud users!

You’ll discover faster rendering using the *NEW Recover v2, while the updated Right Panel design streamlines model navigation, Gigaprint offers precise control over cropped regions, and enhanced image optimization ensures sharper, high-quality prints.

**We’ve also included a fix for the Photoshop plugin known issue. Please use the v8.3.1 download links.

:star: NEW Recover v2 - faster and better than ever!

We are excited to share the results of a major update to the Recover model. Introducing Recover v2 ! Enjoy significantly better and faster results with Recover v2, available for both Local and Cloud.

Recover v2 is over 5x faster than the previous generation, and produces high quality results with far less artifacting than ever before.

500%+ speed boost on an Apple M3 Pro over Gen 1, and a better result in the end

This model still requires 8GB of VRAM to run, and we’ve hooking it up to cloud rendering for those with less powerful GPUs. When it comes to the cloud, you can also expect major reductions in price for renders with this new version of the Recover model.

Running a speed test? Please make sure to run a small preview first, as the model needs to load and will be slower on the first run.

*Please note: Recovery v2 does not work on Mac OS 13 or under. Please upgrade to Mac OS 14 or higher for the best results. For WIN ARM users, please expect slow processing when rendering locally even with smaller images.

Updated Right Panel Design

Exploring your models is now simpler and more intuitive with our redesigned model interface, providing a smoother, more seamless experience. We’ve streamlined the UI to minimize excessive scrolling and enhance ease of use.

Gigaprint: Adjust Cropped Region

Take full control over your print layouts with the ability to easily adjust the cropped region in Gigaprint. The crop tool allows you to crop into your photo and rotate the crop between a vertical or horizontal orientation.

Image Optimization for Gigaprint

We’ve enhanced image optimization for Gigaprint to ensure your prints are sharper, more detailed, and ready for high-quality results. Use this slider to improve the lighting of your image to give it more brightness and contrast.

Smart Zooming

You may recall that Gigapixel would re-render when zooming into an already processed subregion in the Navigator. Now you can zoom in with smoothness and far less unnecessary re-rendering.

This change went into Photo AI a few months back, and we’re excited to add this to Gigapixel. We will continue to refine the speed and performance of the preview.

Non-Pro Cloud Toggle

Some of our Gigapixel users love rendering locally so much, they never want to see the option to process in the cloud.

You’ve asked for it, and we are delivering you the ability to turn off cloud rendering in the UI entirely, even if you don’t own a Pro license.

Pro licenses still retain the ability to force cloud rendering off for all sub-accounts, but now even those users with personal licenses can turn this off inside their preferences.

Use this toggle to keep using the models that are locally rendered only.

Known Issues:

  • Generative models not being supported on macOS Ventura is not showing
  • Generative models may cause crashes or other issues on Intel Macs
  • Lens corrections changes apply only after app restarts
  • (v8.3.1) 1-2 Channel images might crash in standalone mode (i.e. monochrome or grayscale images)

Changelog:

  • Added Recover v2
  • Changed new user interface for model selection
  • Added Crop tool to Gigaprint
  • Added Image optimization slider to Gigaprint
  • Added smart zooming
  • Added Cloud render toggle in Preferences
  • (v8.3.1) Updated fix for Ps Plugin issue
  • (v8.3.1) Fix auth settings being disabled when login dialog is open

I stumbled upon an interesting thingy - with this TGAI 8.3.0 version here (I assume this is the Redefine or Recover v1 model?) -
obraz

Interesting to have this model for RTX 3090 and the fresh 572.83 Studio Driver.

This version of TGAI also exits with a crash at the manual exit, similarly to 8.3.0.5b. It happens in DirectML.dll library, with 0xc0000409 exception.

Yes! Way faster and results look great. Is this coding going to be used in the Video AI?

Finally some progress on Apple M3. Redefine is working for Creativity 1-2 but anything higher is still broken. Same noise issue. Don’t have to revert back to 8.0.2 for now. Hopefully more fixes to come.

Again the Old Bug => Artifacts-Rendering… :rage:

When this finally get fixed? :rage:

Love it how a man who’s probably accepted a long time ago that his hair is gone just got a new style with just a few clicks.

Redefine going wild (again)!

I keep getting this error during installation on Windows 11.
Gigapixel bug

I deleted the previous version.
“somehow managed” to get it working by extracting the files from the installer using lessmsi into the appropriate directories and then running it.

Second question: Back in the beta testing phase, you mentioned that you would convert the recover v2 model to TensorRT for faster inference, but that hasn’t happened. Why is that?

The new Recover v2 is nice. You still need to be careful when combining it with Face Recover. Because Recover v2 adds a lot of detail to the hair (like Redefine does) it makes the soft rectangle around the face from Face Recovery more noticable. With the non-AI enlargement models the Face Recovery rectangle is a bit less visible because everything is still relatively soft compared to the AI versions.

You can see the effect most clearly on the top of the boy’s head, and where the hair is just above the mom’s shoulder.

Dazzling improvement to one of my old photos from 2018.
In this case, I used GAI 8.2.2 because I’ve just seen this new version hahaha. But here I’ve made 3-4 variations. One with a description of the whole image, one with just the bird, one with just the background and another with slightly lower settings for the background. When you see the original photo, I had to push the settings almost to the extreme to recover as much information as possible, because at 3 times the creativity, the final results were barely different from the original.

Getting processing error messages with the Text & Shapes model and the High Fidelity v2 model in this release:

Checked the beta version before this release (8.3.0.5b), and this is not happening there.

Starlight is a similar architecture, and we are working on optimizing Starlight

Nice - yeah we’re aware of the issue with high creativity values. Working on it!

Stay tuned, there were some other device fixes which couldn’t make the release but we are rushing to get them ready for a patch

Going to turn it into an “Add Hair” filter for Photo AI

Yeah, absolutely. We’re still digging here to improve the blending on these types of models with Face Recovery. The good news is the generative models are better at faces out of the box, but I’ve still found FR useful on some Recovery images

Interesting! This is one of the images that would benefit from pre-downscaling prior to running it through Gigapixel from the look of it.

Thanks - we’re going to look into this. Runs fine on the machines I’ve tested so hopefully this helps us narrow down the fix with your logs.

@josh.yoo any insight to this?

we think this may be an isolated issue. could you send some additional logs so that we could investigate?

Thank you for letting us know about this.
Could you send us logs?
Also can you delete coremlcache files and then get the log if issue persists?
