I just tried a 2nd image from this set I shot today. Also a Sony ARW as starting image, opened via ACR into Ps, then Ps Sky Replacement, then GAI (File > Automate) plugin for processing.
Behaving same as prior example above:
1- Cannot click “X” to close 2nd to last image in Comparison View to end up with single image in image workspace. 2nd to last image won’t close, just reprocesses. Only way to get it to close is to click on the image then click X. Didn’t used to be like that. Could click on any quadrant’s X (active or not) to close it. That’s how it should be. Something broke.
I don’t remember it doing this. But perhaps I wasn’t trying to process images that started out as Sony ARW’s… Can someone at Topaz verify if it’s something with the UI or if something broke wrt handling Sony ARW’s opened via Ps into the Ps GAI plugin?
In batch process tests of 250 images in TIFF.
The order of the images is lost, and the post cannot be recovered in Davinci Resolve Studio 19.
It is necessary to verify this anomaly for animation in post.
The loss of a frame in animation is a beginner’s error that is easy to solve if you take care of the programming.
A third ARW image from same Sony cam opened via Ps 2024 into GAI plugin (no processing prior to opening).
GAI 7.4.3 is Not processing Sony ARW (even if not sent as Raw from Ps to GAI…), same issues of not being able to “X” out unwanted Comparison View models beyond the 1st two. This has been consistently repeatable. There’s a bug(s) that needs to be addressed in the code.
Look at this snip from Comparison View - none of the models is doing anything to the image to improve/“enhance” it (segment of a Sound Suit - artwork by Nick Cave):
As expected, the innovative Gigapixel continues to produce beautiful artifacts (which I would be happy to do without). I must be taking pictures of the wrong things! Several birds of prey fly here at a great height and further away. So I wanted to find out what it was. I took a picture of it, cut it out, threw it to Gigapixel (Recovery Beta). They’re probably buzzards. But the main thing is that instead of a uniform gray-blue sky, it again generated a sky with spots and, moreover, with a strange structure (it can be seen even without magnification) resembling some kind of fabric or something. I have to improve myself and take pictures of other things, I don’t see any other solution. And my ink-printer dutifully reproduces those artifacts for me. Gigaprint would no doubt do it even more faithfully (better not try…). It is interesting that the artifacts are not in the immediate vicinity of the image of the bird, only a little further away. Artificial intelligence (or anyone else) cannot deal with a homogeneous surface. But other (competing AI) can do it, so it’s definitely possible. But it’s probably not important at all (unfortunately, it is for me). (And that’s not to mention the horrible “enhancement” of faces with crooked teeth and squinting eyes – I hope it doesn’t work that way for poor beautiful birds!).
Okay, now I’m really puzzled. I’m not seeing any improvements to images in the GAI 7.4.3 Standalone either.
I just opened an older Canon Raw image CR2 using the GAI Standalone version on my Win 11 Pro PC.
Same situation as with the Sony images. No processing enhancements are occurring. In Comparison View after the preview processing completes all the views look the same.
Okay, so I wondered if perhaps my install was corrupted. I just uninstalled and reinstalled (using the Win installer from top of this thread - same as before). Am getting the same, unprocessed results (I even tried a slight upscale this time to see if it was now requiring that - it didn’t help). Still not enhancing images.
We have seen these artifacts before when using Recovery and the clearer backgrounds get compromised. We’re hoping to fix this!
As far as your comment about enhancing faces - have you tried Gen 2 of Face Recovery? We think this should help resolve those crooked teeth and squinting eyes issues
After 3 days of the results I noted/exhibited above using images of various file types from different brands of cameras and uninstalling then reinstalling the software (with the same results), now today the behavior changed and I was able to successfully ‘X’ away Comparison View quadrants from 4 down to 1 like I used to be able to do.
Also, I could see some processing impacts when I moved slider handles.
It’s like Esther broke the spell when she invoked your name, Adam. You aren’t available for PC exorcisms by any chance, are you?!
Reminds me of when my PC misbehaves and my (EE PhD) spouse says, “Don’t make me come down there!” to my computer. It magically seems to work at the threat of an engineering guru pointing at it…
Greetings to the whole group, yesterday I bought Gigapixell and downloaded the latest version, I installed it, but when I open and insert an image this banner appears “Downloading models- Some model files need to be re-downloaded before images can be processed”. When I installed the trial version this did not happen, I inserted the image and worked on it, now I have been waiting for 30 minutes. Is this normal? Do you have to wait a long time for each image? Thanks in advance for the answers. Nic
Topaz v7.4.3 does not work on Windows 11 What going on Topaz?? This is a widespread problem. Not rendering upscales, not saving/exporting to Lightroom.
I updated to 7.4.3 and now it will not apply face recovery to batch files. It will apply FaceAI to the first image and ignore the rest resulting in having to trash hundreds of files after many hours of work. Nice job. Any chance you might be able to fix this ASAP?
