Gigapixel 8 crashes with Redefine BETA

Everything works correctly in Gigapixel, except when I activate Redefine. Then the program always crashes without exception.
I’m using Win11 Home (version 23H2), AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, 64GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

I have a less powerful system than you do, and it runs reliably here.

Win 11 Pro 23H2, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 32 GB RAM, and NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super with 565.90 drivers.

Our Beta Redefine model performance can vary dependent on a few factors including image size, additional enhancements applied, as well as some more system configuration information. To start, would you mind supplying me with your full system profile so I may investigate further?

Hi have same problem on a MacBook Pro M3 Pro, 36Gb Ram, OS Sonoma 15.1

I can’t find the original thread I was commenting on but this is pretty close. I had an issue with Gigapixel crashing on my M2Pro whenever I used the “reimagine” model. I updated from OS 15.1 to 15.1.1 and it is now working. Super slow…but working.

I am having the same issue as well.

Hi there

I’ve just purchased Gigapixel and have been doing some experimenting. Redefine Beta has crashed the program every single time I’ve run it.

Is there any solution?
Many thanks

Had the same issue and I think I found where the issue comes from. Do you all have the data folder not on the default folder ? “C:/ProgamData/Topaz Labs LLC/Topaz Gigapixel AI” on Windows.
I had it on another disk and reinstall Gigapixel with default folders. And now Redefine is finally working !
Of course I still don’t want the data folder and its 20GB of models on my C drive so I created a symlink to the folder on the other disk and it does the trick.

But please developers, fix this bug so we can set freely a different path to the data folder and experience no crash with redefine. Thanks.

Hi
Thanks for the reply!

yeah, the program is on the default folder, so it can’t be that.
i don’t particularly want the 20gb folder on C drive either, and it’s not even working!
it’s been almost 4 weeks since they’ve replied to this, which isn’t encouraging…

I use also an alternative path. Thanks for your tip!

Thanks, was having the same crashing issue as others, and this was the answer.
If you don’t have your models and the program files installed at the same path, generative models will crash when used. The installer invites you to install them in different places, and in 8.00 this still worked fine. For whatever reason, it doesn’t now. It may be that the various people having this issue have all placed the 20gb of required models on a different drive to the main program, to save space on c:/ SSD drives, for example.

I completely reinstalled with all files in a single location, and now it works again.
