Hi, I’ve used Topaz for a while and I am on the latest version. When I enhance or slow down now there’s a flicker in the shadows and sometimes highlights, but mostly shadows that seems like the AI is not able to interpret the footage? It’s strange because I had Topaz 4 and ran it on a macbook 2019 model with the exact same clip last summer and it came out without a problem, but now on the macbook pro m4 it’s struggling to give me any clips the way i used to get them, clean. Is this a bug or what is happening?
What model and settings are you using? Can you share info on the file specs?
When slowing down footage, if there is already a slight flicker in the video from flickering lights, even if its not noticeable when played back at regular speed it will become noticeable when slowing the video down.
Hmm, okay. Are you able to share a short clip of the video?
You can securely submit your file(s) to our Dropbox using the link below.
This way we can test it on our systems to see if its a hardware, file, or model and app setting issue.
Just uploaded the original and the topaz version to the dropbox
Take a look at this export I ran with the same settings on a Windows system. It is exported as ProRes 422 HQ, though, since we don’t support ProRes 4444 on Windows.
We were able to replicate on a Mac system though the flicker, and will be sharing with the devs for further review.
Also we ran a test with Apollo Fast and it does not show the flicker issue when set to a 2x slow motion.
Very interesting, I will try on my side and update you. I would prefer the prores 4444, and while this might solve the issue for these specific clips I have had the same problem before and would like to understand if it’s my settings, hardware or a bug issue. I’ll keep you updated on the results!
I made it work with apollo fast and cut out only the parts i needed, but the problem still persists, so what do I do to avoid this in the future?
I have not gotten an update from the devs on the situation, but will post once I do.
