Tried to upgrade from Topaz Photo AI to Topaz Photo. Told I was a “FOUNDER” and would be upgraded without cost. Wasted over an hour uploading the update; installed it; only to realize it was no different from the previous – and was still being prompted to “Download the new Topaz Photo” When I tried to contact – a pop up said that the are no longer allowing emails from a .yahoo email address. This company is really on the way out. I don’t even really use Topaz much anymore, except to fix old, very old photos. Now that they’re fixed. I find little use for this application. Time to move on. When you are this inept as a company you probably deserve to end up on the trash heap of “been there, has been” applications that nobody wants to pay to upgrade, let alone buy a subscription. Likely I’ll just delete the app. and not upgrade or waste any more time on.
For starters, Topaz Photo is not an update to Photo AI, meaning you cannot update the existing app. Topaz Photo is a separate subscription-only app, both Photo and Photo AI can be installed at the same time on a system. If you you have an active Founders subscription you can just go to Apps | Topaz Labs , download Photo, install it and activate it with your credentials. The automatic transition may have failed because of your Yahoo address. Just contact support with your Gmail and get it sorted.
If you’re wanting photo restorations and want to own the app I urge you to buy Luminar Neo new upgrade - it’s immaculate. Had Topaz done this and not gone down the route of subscription I would have bought Mosaic but I am not paying for what is basically ‘rent’. A shame because I like Topaz stuff. Check out Luminar Neo
Can you show a screenshot of this “a pop up said that the are no longer allowing emails from a .yahoo email address” when you get it? We have a lot of users on yahoo emails and have no issues receiving emails from them.
The new models may or may not benefit your needs, and if Photo AI meets your needs, you do not have to subscribe to the new app offering and can keep using your owned Photo AI version. You can cancel from your Subscriptions page any renewals, if any are on. To test the new models, make sure you are using the new app (it will be a different app, different desktop shortcut).
