Feedback | Wildlife BETA Model

I am a photographer and retoucher specializing in fashion apparel photography, and I have been using your company’s products for the past two years.

I have been using your Autopilot feature, but the optimization results consistently come out over-sharpened. I have to manually intervene and adjust nearly every photo to reduce the sharpening effect. Some of the sharpening models are basically unusable. Standard is the only viable model; all the others are very unfriendly to fabric textures on clothing, especially knits and denim, and easily produce over-sharpening or zebra patterns. Once the lens is out of focus, after using the deblur model with lens blur, the texture is basically flattened. The standard model can only be said to provide marginal relief, but it’s still not the best result.

But I just discovered today that with the new wildlife model after the update, I feel this is finally the best model for realistic photos. I want to give all the credit and recognition to this model. Not only does the texture under out-of-focus situations get naturally sharpened and clarity restored, but photos that are already sufficiently sharp are further enhanced with texture and quality. I just didn’t expect why this excellent model took so long to arrive. lol, well done TopazI am a photographer and retoucher specializing in fashion apparel photography, and I have been using your company’s products for the past two years.

It’s always good to have new options to try as every image is unique. The idea of using it to address textile patterns is a nice discovery.

I have not found it to be a better fit for most of the wildlife photos I’ve tried it with so far. I typically either stay with natural, or standard.

I can show you some examples, the original image is clearly out of focus. In the effect examples of different models, I selected the processing level of each model based on the optimal sharpening degree for the character’s facial features, and then compared the processing effects on the clothing.

Lens Blur v2 is really obviously fake at first glance.

Then Natural also has a kind of improved clarity but not sharp enough restoration:

Then there’s Standard, which was also my only conservative choice in the past, and I can only say it’s usable but not ideal enough:

Finally, there’s the new Wildlife, and I think the results are already very impressive.

Demonstration of the connection between the fur coat and jeans in the same photo:
The effects of Lens Blur V2 and Natural on the denim fabric are basically unwatchable:

Standard is barely acceptable, but on some white cat-eye crease patterns of the denim fabric, the overly sharp grain makes the creases appear bleached white, and the crease range looks very large.

Wildlife handles it much more naturally. Particularly at the same location, its sharpening is more refined and appears more restrained in achieving a high-fidelity effect similar to that in the Upscale function.

Thank you for this example, and for showing others how the new model can be used on photos that are not wildlife

Majoring in wildlife photography, I am very happy with the Wildlife beta! I seldom use any sharpening tools, though I do miss at times, and have used them. Every one seemed to over sharpen, to the point that I just ended up tossing the photo. Wildlife Beta is different though, and I am very pleased with it! If I could figure out how to add a few pics, I would!

I agree! Wildlife Beta is fantastic for my already sharp pictures. Bringing the subject to life without over sharpening.
