Can someone explain to me why the cloud only apps such as Mosaic are only being promoted on social media, only have Discord channels for support, and no discussions topics for them here? Why are they being excluded from here? Topaz is afraid of honest feedback?
Seconded. Wrt hosting a discussion forum for those Web products here too.
I’m not a 15-25 y.o. male and I find Discord ‘unfriendly’ (ie, convoluted server setups and also Reddit/Instagram-my feeling) to deal with.
I’d prefer community discussions for those products in this set of forums also. To converse re: experiences with other more established (is the word I’m groping for ‘seasoned’?) artists, photographers, etc.
It was initially a developer + @dakota.wixom decision to only be on Discord for webapps at the moment but thanks for flagging your interest of having a dedicated space here on this forum platform. Now that the web app offering is bigger, we will see if we create a dedicated section for this or keep on Discord.
There was talks about moving the Desktop apps there too and multiple Topaz staff voted that it should stay as is at least for Desktop apps. I personally do not like the Discord format but we have others that swear by it!
Discord is fine for temporary communications that you don’t care about long term, but it’s terrible as an archive of searchable knowledge. It tends to be chaotic and posts get lost in the noise when discussions occur on a limited number of channels. Forums are better for more focused discussion topics. Discord works better when no-one is using it.
Exactly! That’s much of the chaos & unfriendliness I was referring to. You nailed it. It’s for quick hits (that are impossible to find again). Not a community interacting & sharing info.
Maybe that’s why it’s preferred for Topaz, that way, any feedback quickly gets buried by newer messages. Here, bugs and things get posted and noticed without them so easily ignoring it.
