Every time I open any Topaz application, I’m faced with a decision: do i want to wait 30mins to update to the latest software? Why, oh god WHY???, does it take so long to update your software?
Just have a look at the size of the model files, be it for Photo AI or Gigapixel AI. These files are huge and they must be checked after download. Even with a fast connection and a speedy system and disk, this takes a while.
This is why I always recommend to keep these files on the fastest drive of the system (usually the system disk) even if they use a lot of disk space.
Meh. I don’t find them that big. And I have a blazingly fast ISP connection. But, I confess, there’s probably something I don’t understand about the process. That said, it is an awkward equation - do I wait 30mins for an update that likely will not make an appreciable difference? In terms of updates, perhaps there’s a better way for Topaz to handle it?
the time it takes to update depends on what is in the new version. If it’s a UI update, new models, then yes it can take some time, though 30 minutes seems like a long time. Make sure to check that there is no anti-virus or firewall blocking the install, it could make them longer.
