i really thought that topaz was a leader here, but no that function just smooth detail, hey i can do that myself in photoshop if that is supposed to be AI work.
it can’t remove noise
it take out so much detail there is nothing left to see in the picture
i spend server credit for this ???
also i tried to save a picture and the software just froze…so yeah not happy about the result
To be fair, for now it’s still just a Beta version.
For me the lack of user input and guidance is the real concern. It’s all or nothing, with no subtlety in between.
It makes me wonder what the AI has been asked to do by default. What does it think “dust” and “scratches” are? Is it supposed to be detecting and preserving “details” that the all knowing AI has determined are not “defects” in the original image?
I am glad to see you are adding dust and scratch removal.
Here are 2 photo, the before and after using dust removal.
It removed the watch on my grandfathers left arm. Is there a way I can exclude the area from scratch removal?
AND-E is correct about other software being needed…
But I’ve found a simple workaround that can be used in circumstances where there is no dust or scratches present in the area that needs excluding. Otherwise it will only re-reveal the dust and scratches present.
First run Dust and Scratch removal.
Next select Preserve Text.
In Edit Selection select Custom mask and apply a mask as illustrated.
Under controls you will see Topaz has selected Noisy 1. You should find that the watch has been re-focused / excluded from the Dust and Scratch removal.
@mathieu-6449 - Can you post examples of the results you get?
We need to see the original and the results of Dust and Scratch
Also post details on what you mean with “can’t remove noise”. Old photos ddon’t have noise, it has grain, and while Denoise could help in some cases, grain is not noise. After the Dust & Scratch enhancement, test Super Focus if you need details recovered.
Show us the file you are working with and we can help!
Interesante feature, confiando en poder reducir los tiempos de proceso, sugiero que junto a la advertencia, se indique el tiempo estimado del trabajo a realizar, y decidido a hacerlo se indique permanentemente el tiempo estimado de término del proceso.
I have tried the new “Dust & Scratches” remove tool in Topaz, but this tool doesn’t do anything.
It’s not possible to see the difference between the original and the result from Topaz AI. And the process took 60 seconds.
I have also done the same in Photoshop with much better result. And the process took 5 seconds. I attach the original file and the two processed files.
Seeing you are forcing the NVIDIA solely to be used on your side, that can slow down your machine. To use your full machine capabilities, go to Edit > Preferences > General > change it from NVIDIA to Auto. Auto uses both CPU and NVIDIA, will use your full machine capabilities, which you are not right now! Make sure to not use any “optimization” options in the NVIDIA app specific to Photo AI, all it does is change the AI Processor to NVIDIA and this will make things slower as it revokes usage of your CPU.
But the result is the same and time was also now about 60 sec to process.
I noticed in Task Manager that CPU usage was low, approx.. 3-5 %. GPU was about 80 % (but after approx.. 30 sec. From 0-30 sec the GPU usage was very low)
Result still very bad, most of Scratches and Dust are still visible.
I like it but I agree with the other commenter(s) that it’s too aggressive and removes image details. There needs to be a variable-area brush that allows you to exclude correction areas or features on the image.
