Feedback | Denoise AI VS Topaz Photo Results

I loved your DeNoise feature in previous versions, now it is terrible in version 1.4.0. After I try to apply DeNoise I have been forced to close the image and use Photoshop DeNoise

Hi John.

I don’t work for Topaz but, would be interested in knowing a bit more about this problem and if possible post a few before and after images with settings

Thanks :+1:

I just subscribed to Topaz Photo and I too was initially very disappointed in the DeNoise feature. I have been using the standalone DeNoise AI for removing noise from my long exposure milkyway landscape photos with reasonably good results. When I tried using Topaz Photo on some of my photos, the result was blurry mush no matter which model or strength setting I used. I was literally five minutes away from asking for my money back (I was still inside of the two day window) when I received a notification that a new Topaz Photo version was available with some DeNoise improvements. After installing, the results from the old Denoise models were still just as bad. However, there is now a new Denoise MAX model available. I gave Denoise MAX a try and the results are amazing. Using the same test milkyway photo, Denoise MAX not only removed the noise, but the photo retained much more detail than the standalone DeNoise AI was ever able to produce. The only downside is that Denoise MAX is slow. I tried running it on my very capable computer and it took 80 minutes to complete the processing on a 45 MP image. However, you have the option of running it in the cloud and that took only 5 minutes. I don’t have a problem waiting 5 minutes given the impressive results. Needless to say, I will be keeping my Topaz Photo subscription.
