I shoot full 360° equirectangular panoramas for virtual tours, Google Maps and VR. Because 360 cameras use small sensors and capture everything in every direction, they’re far more susceptible to low-light noise, extreme dynamic range and artefacts at the top and bottom of the spherical image than traditional cameras.
Both versions improve my images, but they behave quite differently.
Wonder 1 (W1) is more aggressive. It’s significantly better at lifting dark areas and increasing scene separation, especially in challenging interiors. In some cases, it produces results I haven’t been able to replicate with other Topaz tools.
The trade-off is that fine text and small high-frequency details can get reinterpreted. Slightly soft lettering can turn into what I call “alien writing”. W1 also appears more prone to subtle artefacts near the poles of the 360 image, particularly at the bottom (the nadir area).
Wonder 2 (W2) is more conservative. It preserves structure and fine detail better, handles text more reliably, and produces a cleaner bottom area of the 360 image. However, it doesn’t rescue darker or flatter images as dramatically as W1.
In short:
W1 = stronger perceptual enhancement and shadow recovery
W2 = better structural stability and detail integrity
Both improve the image. They just prioritise different things.
How to View the Examples
Each link below is a 360° interactive viewer with a split comparison. You can drag the divider and compare two versions directly inside the panorama.
The viewer only supports two images at a time, not three, which is why there are three comparison links per example (Original vs W1, Original vs W2, and W1 vs W2).
Community Centre
Older camera, mixed lighting at the entrance with shadow areas, brick texture and fine wall plaque detail.

What are others seeing between W1 and W2? Are you noticing similar behaviour, or something different?
If helpful, I’m happy to share the original source files and provide additional examples for the team.
