I’d love a new Restore tool in Topaz Photo where I could select a damaged or unclear part of an image and describe what it is — for example, select a hand and enter: “This is a hand holding a glass.”
The AI would reconstruct only the selected object, using the surrounding image to match its pose, lighting, colors, grain, sharpness, and level of detail. This would be especially useful for restoring old family photos, where a generic enhancement can misinterpret a hand, an item of clothing, or another small object.
The result should remain editable. If the AI gets something wrong, I’d like to select the same area again and give a follow-up instruction such as: “The hand has five fingers; keep the original position of the glass.” The tool could then revise that object without changing the rest of the photo.
Ideally, it would offer several variations and a strength control, so I could choose between a conservative restoration and a more interpretive reconstruction. The original pixels should always remain available for comparison.
